Road 15 Jelly Roll and Stampin' Up Spice Cake Chevron Quilts

I'm pretty sure only one person still checks this blog - right??  There's so much I want to share but life always happens and I can never seem to find the time.

I decided when I turned 30 last year that I would learn to quilt - two days later, I had finished my first quilt top.  I've done two full-size quilts since then so I thought I'd share those tonight.  They're a long way from perfect, but I love how they turned out and each little "flaw" is a learning experience.  The biggest lesson?  I need a LOT of practice with binding!

The first was make with Moda's "Road 15" fabric collection.  This was an easy jelly roll quilt, and I finished it with free-motion quilting.  I'm really happy with this one - it's a great size for one person, nice and warm, and the bright colours and fun patterns are so much fun.

 

Not long after this, I attempted a very large chevron quilt for a friend - and this was where I realized how much work I need with binding!  I think glue and a few staples might have done a better job than I did.  Regardless, it still *looks* pretty darn good - just don't get too close!  This was made with the now-discontinued Spice Cake fabric collection from Stampin' Up.  It was done with straight-line quilting in the chevon pattern.  I quilted it about 1/4" out of the ditch on both sides. 

I'll try and post more stuff in the near future - believe it or not, in spite of the lack of updates, I still have a stack of cards and scrapbook pages waiting to be shared!  :)

Six new cards!

Hello again!  Just popped in to share a half-dozen new cards.  These were sent as part of a gift to my dad and stepmom.  I like to stock them with handmade cards (and they like to tease me that they won't be sending them back to me!)

PARTY!  Happy Birthday:

All supplies from Stampin' Up.  Sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners (and matching framelit.)  All other stamps from "Owl Occasions."  A lot of work went in to this card (and my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig saw a lot of mileage!) but the result is well worth it!

Lollipop card:  Cardstock by Bazzil; embossing folder by Sizzix; ribbon by Stampin' Up; twine by The Twinery.  I used a Gluber from Cosmo Cricket to create the lollipop.  

Sweet Baby:  

Supplies used:  All supplies from Stampin' Up except microbeads, from Walmart.  Rattle stamp from "Button Buddies" and sentiment from "Itty Bitty Banners."

Four cards for you!

This sweet baby card was made for my cousin.  I love the colour combination and the elephant paper; it says "baby" without being pastel or cutesy. 

Supplies:  All supplies listed are from Stampin' Up.

Cardstock:  Close to Cocoa, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Lucky Limeade.

Embellishments:  Chocolate Chip scalloped ribbon; So Saffron button; "Congratulations" stamp from Itty Bitty Banners; banner diecut from Bitty Banners Framelits.  The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up as well, but it's retired and I have NO idea what collection it came from.

I made this little treat holder for my husband and loaded it with cinnamon hearts.  I used this tutorial to create a sliding door; that way, the candy can be removed without ripping apart the card.  The "love" tag on the right side is the pull tab for the door.  Clever!  

Supplies:  All supplies listed are from Stampin' Up.

Cardstock:  Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, and Pool Party.

Stamps:  Sweet Centers (heart and "I <3 and="and" love="love" p="p" tags="tags" tiny="tiny" you="you">

Miscellaneous:  Treat Cups, Circle punch (inside the treat cup), small tag punch (for the "love" tag.) 

I have a soft spot for scallops; this scalloped-front square thank you card is REALLY easy with the help of a die cut.

This last photo really doesn't do the card justice; it is SO cute in person!  I love the shaker frames to add dimension and a little bit of sparkle without a huge mess!

Father's Day, pt. 2

Well, I've been completely delinquent about posting... sorry about that.  Maybe a certain someone will stop nagging me now (cough, cough, ALLISON!)

Here's the second of the father's day cards I made this year - this was from my son, for my husband.

Cardstock - Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy from Stampin' Up.
Paper - October Afternoon (I *think* this is from the Campfire collection.)

CASE, CASE, CASE!

I'm short on inspiration and time these days, so most of my crafting has been CASEing!  I've found some great creations online and went at them myself. 

This first card was cased from THIS PROJECT by Mary.  Hers is actually a bookmark, but mine is glued flat and just a card.  I changed a number of elements, obviously, but I love the final look!  

This second card was inspired by Jen Del Muro's project seen HERE.  I used the five current Stampin' Up In Colours on this; I love that they all go together so well! 

And the last card is an original layout, but I cased that little owl from Heather Summers' blog.  She has a great tutorial on how to make them!
